Guardians of Bazley’s Natural Heritage
In Bazley we are incredibly fortunate to have a small but deeply committed team who care passionately about protecting the natural beauty that makes our village so special.
Led by Elizabeth Forsdick and Pete Harvey, the Bazley Conservancy spends countless hours working behind the scenes to care for our environment. Their work includes removing Alien Invasive Plants (AIPs) that threaten indigenous vegetation, clearing snares that endanger wildlife, and organising regular beach clean-ups to keep our coastline clean and healthy.
Much of this work goes unnoticed, but it plays an important role in protecting the environment we all enjoy as residents and visitors.
Looking after Bazley’s natural environment is something we all share responsibility for, and the Conservancy team’s efforts make an enormous difference. Their dedication helps ensure that Bazley remains the beautiful coastal village we are so lucky to call home.

A wealth of information and updates on environmental initiatives in Bazley.
Bazley is a designated Protected Coastal Environmental Habitat in terms of the National, Provincial and Municipal legislation. In addition, Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife recognises Bazley as an important Natural Biodiversity Corridor.
Residents are encouraged to reach out to the Bazley Conservancy should they:
- Need assistance identifying or removing alien invasive plants
- Have concerns about environmental damage or illegal dumping
- Would like advice on planting indigenous species
- Spot wildlife that may need assistance
