Protecting Bazley Together: Why the B.R.A. Is Investing in Security

The Bazley Residents Association believes that the beachfront areas of Bazley currently present the village’s greatest security vulnerability. As a result, the B.R.A. has taken the decision to invest a significant portion of its reserves into a major upgrade of the village security camera network — a move we believe is both necessary and critical to the ongoing safety and protection of our community.

Why additional surveillance is needed

Recent incidents have made it increasingly clear that additional surveillance coverage is urgently needed, particularly in the areas where perpetrators are most commonly entering Bazley. Based on incident patterns and information gathered over recent months, approximately 80% of criminal access into the village has occurred via the Ndasingane beachfront area.

New cameras and improved coverage

To address this, three cameras have already been commissioned and installed between Ndasingane and Woolwich beaches.

Furthermore, new cameras will be installed at Ndasingane to provide broad coverage of the beach access point, while some of the current cameras situated opposite Mac Nicol’s caravan park will be repositioned to improve visibility towards the Ifafa side beach access. These strategically positioned cameras will provide early warning detection, allowing Gladiator Security and internal Bazley security support to respond immediately and accurately pinpoint the movement and location of suspicious individuals entering the village.

An integrated security response network

The upgraded system forms part of a broader proactive security strategy aimed at protecting homeowners, residents, guests and property within Bazley. Importantly, these cameras are not simply passive monitoring tools — they are integrated into an actively monitored response network designed to improve reaction times and increase the chances of intercepting perpetrators before incidents occur.

Contributions towards the B.R.A. also go directly towards the ongoing costs of paying Gladiator Security and NCam for the professional monitoring of the camera network and rapid response support.

A significant but necessary investment

The B.R.A. understands that committing reserve funds of this magnitude is not a decision to be taken lightly. However, after careful consideration, the committee believes this investment is essential for the long-term safety, security and sustainability of our village.

Security infrastructure of this nature benefits every homeowner in Bazley — including those who currently do not contribute financially towards the B.R.A. Beyond the obvious safety benefits, a visible and effective security presence also plays an important role in protecting and enhancing property values. Prospective buyers and visitors increasingly look at community security measures when making decisions about where to invest or holiday.

A call for broader community support

For this reason, we would once again like to encourage homeowners who are not currently contributing towards the B.R.A. to please reconsider their position. The reality is that projects of this scale can only be achieved through collective community support. Every contribution assists us in maintaining and improving the infrastructure and services that benefit the entire village.
