- Don’t leave items like bicycles, hosepipes or braais outside in plain sight — these attract opportunists.
- Avoid keeping large amounts of cash on the premises.
- Get to know your neighbours. A vigilant, connected community is your best line of defence.
- Check the identity of employees or contractors before granting them access.
- When away for an extended period, ask neighbours to check in and collect post or put out rubbish bags to give the impression that someone is home.
- Never leave vehicles unlocked or valuables visible inside them — even when parked on your property.
