Community Compost Heap in Bazley: A Viable Option?
Some homeowners in Bazley have suggested creating a community compost heap in the village — a well-intentioned initiative that could benefit our environment and reduce garden waste.
The B.R.A. would be willing to support this project if there is enough interest and commitment from residents. However, it’s important to fully understand what’s involved before moving forward.

- Requires a suitable, accessible site away from homes

- Must be carefully managed to avoid odours, pests, and misuse
- Ongoing maintenance is essential — regular turning, moisture control, and oversight
- Risk of incorrect waste being dumped (e.g., cooked food, plastics, invasive seeds)

- A clear implementation plan
- Dedicated volunteers willing to maintain the site
- Community guidelines and monitoring

- A workable proposal to be submitted to the B.R.A.
