Investing in Bazley: How Your Contributions Are Making a Difference
One of the questions homeowners occasionally ask is how B.R.A. funds are used and where their contributions go.
At the 2026 Annual General Meeting, Treasurer Robert Mace presented the association’s financial report, providing members with an overview of the B.R.A.’s finances and how funds are being invested back into the community. The report highlighted an important principle that guides the committee’s approach: the B.R.A. exists to improve and protect Bazley, not to accumulate money unnecessarily.
Investing back into the community
The B.R.A.’s philosophy is simple. As long as the association remains financially stable, funds should be directed towards projects and services that make a meaningful difference to residents and homeowners.
This approach was reflected in the past financial year, where the association recorded a small deficit after investing in security infrastructure, road maintenance, conservation initiatives and community services rather than preserving cash reserves.
These investments help ensure that Bazley remains a safe, clean and attractive place to live, holiday and retire.
Homeowner contributions matter
Resident subscriptions remain the B.R.A.’s single largest source of income, accounting for 61% of total revenue during the financial year. This highlights just how important homeowner support is to the association’s ability to operate effectively.
Additional income is generated through Ndasingane permits, Illovo donations, plant sales and the popular Shangrila Market.
Every contribution received helps fund services and projects that benefit the wider community.
Where the money goes
The largest area of expenditure remains the people who help keep Bazley running smoothly. Community workers account for 41% of total expenditure and undertake a variety of essential tasks, including beach cleaning, skip management, Ndasingane access control and conservation work.
Security continues to be another major focus, with camera monitoring and related services accounting for 19% of total expenditure. During the year, the B.R.A. also invested in additional security cameras as part of its ongoing commitment to improving community safety.
Other expenditure includes road maintenance, conservation initiatives, signage, insurance, equipment purchases and the ongoing management of community facilities and services.

Looking ahead
The committee intends to continue directing funds towards projects that deliver tangible benefits to residents. Priorities for the year ahead include further security improvements, road maintenance, beach and skip cleaning, alien plant removal, wildlife protection initiatives and the continued growth of community markets as both a fundraising and social platform.
Thank you
The achievements of the B.R.A. are only possible because of the support of homeowners who contribute financially to the association.
Whether it is improved security, cleaner beaches, better-maintained roads, conservation projects or community events, every contribution helps us invest in the things that make Bazley such a special place.
On behalf of the committee, thank you for your continued support.
