Understanding the Role of the B.R.A. – We are not the law
The Bazley Residents Association (B.R.A.) is a volunteer-driven organisation working to build a strong, safe, and connected community. Our role is to support, coordinate, and advocate on behalf of Bazley residents — but we are not an enforcement body.
Lately, there seems to be some confusion, with several residents under the impression that the B.R.A. is responsible for policing or enforcing by-laws. We’d like to be absolutely clear: we are not the law. We do not have the authority to enforce municipal regulations or intervene in private disputes.
✅ What the B.R.A. Does
We enhance local security through camera monitoring and liaising with Gladiator Security.
We remove Alien Invasive Plants, clean the beach twice weekly, and monitor for snares.
We engage with authorities like Umdoni Municipality, Illovo, SAPS and others on issues affecting Bazley.
We manage the Ndasingane access and permit system alongside Mac Nicols.
We maintain the community website, WhatsApp groups, newsletters, and a cloud-based homeowner database.
We assist with clean-up and road maintenance projects.
❌ What the B.R.A. Does Not Do
We do not enforce by-laws or intervene in matters of compliance — this is the responsibility of law enforcement and municipal authorities.
We are not a policing or emergency service. For any urgent matters, please contact the appropriate authorities directly.
We do not get involved in neighbour disputes or private property matters. These must be resolved by the parties involved or through legal channels.
We do not provide or manage municipal services.
Every member of the B.R.A. committee volunteers their time and energy to serve the broader interests of our village. By understanding what we can and cannot do, we can all work more effectively together.
